Split the airline

This airline has gone nowhere but south since the merger. Is it too late to separate it into it's former entities?

Yes I would agree with the Split

Does that mean CO would go back into SkyTeam?

This whole thing is so sad to view. For people who loved Continental, and airlines in general, this is a disaster.

Life goes on. But UA desperately needs new leadership. Its' totally pathetic.

It is now apparent that leaving UA and CO as stand alone companies would have been better for employees and customers alike.

It may not be that difficult to unwind. Seems there's still a lot of stuff not integrated.

It's a disaster for people who loved United too.

They could have done it up until about a week ago, but now that Cleveland is de-hubbed it's too late!

CO moved to *A back in 2009, if memory serves. Definitely before the merger in any case.

Cool

Why would you want to do this? Everything is fine...route network, 787, etc...

What we really need here is to split the company into routes based on quality of service. We'll have a premium airline with a big Int'l route network and call it "Uni", and then we'll have a high-density discount carrier flying domestic routes, and call it "Ted"...

... oh, wait.

There was talk of de-hubbing CLE even before the merger. CLE is not that far from EWR.

Former CO CEO, Larry Kellner, opposed the merger and left CO. Jeff Smisek (#2 at CO) then was promoted to the CEO position at CO to replace Larry, and subsequently became CEO of the merged CO/UA.
