I had posted about MP Compliance blocking my account in January. They never replied to me, even though I repeatedly emailed them on security tips.
Today I called and explained to an agent that I want a working MP account and that even though I was 1K, the balance in the account didn't matter as much and I could become a 1K again in a short amount of flying time. I told her I have read and understood the T&C and hence am asking for permission to open a new account. She said she would check with her supervisor and said, they said it is ok, as long as you agree not to violate anything and enrolled me on the spot. MP Compliance won't shut this new account down, right? I took the name and ID number of the agent and she assured me it would be fine and that a note is put on my file that her supervisor granted permission. Just wanted to check if anyone else has had a bad experience in this situation. |

My rule of thumb with suppliers if they are willing to enter into contracts with people whose ethics are of a concern it is s slippery slope and I will generally find a new supplier. I certainly understand United is hurting and wanting all the business they can get but if they are unwilling to enforce compliance to ensure continued business it does not bode well for the future. YMMV

[mod edit - removal of now removed quoted post]
A lot of people THINK they did no wrong, even though the rules say so. In most likelihood the vast majority of closed accounts are done rightfully so. Times are bad in Las Vegas. The casinos are hardly going to welcome back the lucky members of the "Black Book" - casino cheats and known criminals. |
Good Evening All - the topic of this thread is MP accounts closed due to UA alleging fraud. Let's keep it focused on that.
Safe travels, J.Edward UA co-moderator |
upthread I seem to recall someone who opened up an account after selling and having having original account closed, I *think* they even let the CSR know and the new account was set up anyway..... only to have the new account closed a short time later.
|
So the game is for people who have had MP accounts closed for cause to call UA at a time of their financial weakness and demand accounts be reopened, status reinstated? With a promise you'll play nice? Sheesh.

Compliance/Security operates in a completely separate silo than front end customer service and the rules are explicit about it. This is especially true now when some airport agents are being redeployed to phones. You might be safe but without a dispensation from compliance specifically I'd be looking over my figurative shoulder. |

My understanding is MP rules prohibit anyone from having more than one account. I also vaguely recall there’s a discussion either in this thread or another with someone who had an account closed for one reason or another, signed up for a new one and had that one closed, too (surprise!). I’d suspect this account will meet the same fate at a certain point. If you used the same name, address, etc. - it’s quite easy for them to flag.

The first two are the obvious targets as they have to be correct to pass TSA. One can not opt not enter TSA number and use different phone, address credit card, but getting around name and birthdate can be cumbersome, I imagine... |
