Pardon if this has been asked before, but what is the minimum needed to keep mm status. Due to a close family members illness, I may not do as much flying this year. I vaguely remember something about 2 or 4 flights or is it round trips per year to maintain status ??

Hi mauld!
There is no minimum required segment rule to retain your LT status on UA. Yet.

It's a lifetime status, so I don't see how UA could take it away from anyone who has already earned it. They could create new requirements for people who haven't yet earned it, but I don't see how they could start imposing requirements to retain a lifetime status that you've earned.

Note that even if you earn lifetime Platinum or 1K, that doesn't necessarily mean you will get the renewal benefits like RPUs or GPUs without flying and reaching the thresholds each year.

Could surely change going forward, but as of now, LT Platinum gets 2 RPU's no matter how much or little they fly per year.

If I am not mistaken, to maintain MM status, one has to complete a minimum of 4 paid segments per year.

Has this changed?

I don't believe that the 4 paid segments are a million miler requirement, but they are a requirement to qualify for any of the Premier levels. While many of the PQMs can be on *A airlines, there have to be 4 UA segments. I guess this would be relevant to reaching Platinum or 1K for RPUs and GPUs. But I don't think it's required to keep Million Miler alive.
