Wideroe and United -- what sort of relationship do they have?

This past weekend's festivities beg the question. I have no idea as to what benefits we get on Wideroe flights, or even if Wideroe is part of Star. Can any one explain?

This blog might have some of the fine details you're looking for:
Norwegians Take United for a Ride

Isn't Wideroe just a travel portal, something like Travelocity or Expedia?

Widerøe is a regional affiliate and subsidiary of SAS. But the bonanza was for buying tickets on United, right?

It is no longer owned by SAS.

They sold their majority stake, but still retained a 20% stake.

Should have been clearer that it is no longer controlled by SAS. Thanks!

That's a really good read. I suspect there's going to be a nice lawsuit over it.

I suspect that if the tickets are honored, some in NO is going to be paying some YQ charges out of pocket.

Wideroe and United -- what sort of relationship do they have?

There are folks flying on these tickets today and later this week.

Wonder if everything went smoothly.

As long as Wideroe ticketed based on the automated Amadeus fare quote, it is up to GDS and United to sort out the mess.

Here's the master thread on this, which is now in the Mileage Run Discussion forum. Let's discuss the experiences on this fare there. Thanks, Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (BlackBerry; U; BlackBerry 9330; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.8+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/6.0.0.524 Mobile Safari/534.8+)

Lucky me, I scored two flights to DUB during the Wideroe fare "sale."

My email recipts were correct, with the expected amount of NOK. I haven't seen my credir card statement due to travels.

I just checked in at UA and got my receipt at the kiosk. SURPRISE! It printed the expected base fare of $290, plus $841 in "taxes."

Has anyone else noticed this?

They're not going to suddenly charge your CC more if that's what you mean. Sounds like the computers way of making sense of the fare. Essentially taxes are the part of the fare that doesn't go to UA. In this case it includes YQ.

mine don't show any YQ. Sounds like you'll be earning some extra PQDs.
