UA handles it correctly for booking via other partners. It is only AI which is having the issue. Also, when I checkout I am adding both my and my child's information. If this is a fare issue or bug would UA honor it?

Reading thru this thread, I would not take a risk -- get the proper lapchild ticket or the child may be denied boarding on UA or AI flights.

Either you pay up now or get denied boarding later.

Have a question about lap child fee in case of a paid ticket, not sure if there is a better thread. Anyhow, planning to buy a round-trip ticket with the outbound before the child is born. I assume the lap infant ticket can only be issued for the return leg after the child is born. But what will be the fee then? 10% of a one-way or 10% of a round-trip fare that is sold at the time? Could be a big difference as I am planning to buy a P or Z discount J ticket.
