LH economy and business on award ticket

I'm trying to book SHE (shenyang, china) - FRA - DTW on LH. SHE-FRA has business available, FRA-DTW only economy (hoping for first T-14). could not get united.com to find them together. Called UA, they said booking that requires both segments to have business available??

Nonsense. That's the whole mixed ticket approach on the website.

SHARES has some weird glitches that can require
a) the longest segment
b) at least one inter-region segment
c) the first/last segment

to have higher cabin availability in order to do a mixed award like that.

I have been facing this exact issue with LH flights on a US-Asia award I've been trying to set up. Can't get a straight answer out of the phone reps of which exact elements of the above it is... But they've tried and involved supes and swear there's no way around SHARES' inability to price it

I've found that booking something and then adding the extra segment(s) helps the situation.

Finding a sup willing to manually price an award is getting burdensome--much tougher than before. I agree with aacharya's advice.
