purchasing premier access

I booked a flight on United through travelocity. After doing this, I purchased E+ seating and premier access through United's website. After this I went to attach my MP number, and the reservation wouldn't allow me. I called United, and they said that my name on the reservation from travelocity didn't match my MP name (my middle name was not on the reservation but is on my MP account), and travelocity would have to change the name on the reservation for me to be able to attach my MP number. I called travelocity and they said there would be a fee to change the name, but because I had just made the reservation, I could cancel it without penalty and rebook with the correct information.

So, I went ahead and did that. After rebooking though, I now cannot add premier access! I called United, and they said that the system was no longer offering it. What gives? Anyone have any experience with this? How was premier access available for me when the system didn't know I was a MP member, but not an hour later it wasn't available when it knew I was? On a business level, I don't understand United's reluctance to take my $ here lol (it also won't let me add it for the outbound leg of the trip which was booked separately, but it never offered there from the start).

UA will sell a limited number of E+, your flight may have crossed that limit or other bookings may have taken available seats or ....... lots of reasons this may have happened.

Question -- your original E+ purchase, did UA agree to refund it? It is normally non-refundable.

I purchased E+ again, same seats. What I can't buy is premier access. And yes, United said that because it was all within 24 hours, that the add ons to the original reservation would be refunded. This literally all happened within about 30 minutes.

again there is a limit to number of Premier access (when offered, it is not available at all airports). UA seems to have some limits it will sell away elite benefits.

try purchasing premier access again in several hours, or even tomorrow. Sometimes, it may take awhile for the premier access "inventory" to be returned and put back on sale

Just bought my sister Premier Access PVG EWR, $9. Amazingly good deal. Who needs Silver or the Club CC!

Silver gets you E+. The Club Card gets you UC access and two checked bags.

Priority Access gets you... Group 2 boarding?

That was cheap though.

And Premier Security line (where applicable). I'd have a hard time paying $9 for it. I'd rather use the money for a beer on the plane.

For $1, you can buy a sharpie and scrawl "PREMIER ACCESS" on your BP.
