to the extent the fare rules allow the connections, then the K+connections may still be cheaper than non-stop W fare. No way to make an absolute statement either way.

The routing routes for higher fare classes tend to be more relaxed than lower fare classes. Same fare classes may share routing rules but there will likely be multiple routing rules for a given city pair.

Amazing (or not amazing), but SIN-HKG-ORD-EWR with return EWR-NRT-SIN is cheaper than roudtrip SIN-NRT-SFO...

suspect in a different fare class.

Higher fare classes are purchasing other benefits -- relaxed change / cancellation, advance purchases time frames, improved waitlist priority, improved availability, .....

The same K. SIN-HKG-SFO-EWR and back is cheaper by $130 vs. SIN-NRT-SFO

BTW, the former one could qualify for MR from SIN (for Singapore realities), Matrix says that it is 5.4c per mile

Probably different K's since different city pair -- this is what MRs are all about find these differences.
At greater 5cpm, not the greatest MR but it is as sign of nowadays of higher fares that one might consider this for a MR.

That's why I said - "Singapore realities". Considering that fares SIN-US usually are 30%-50% more expensive than other way around, that would be equivalent of US 2.5-4cpm.
