As of 3 March 2019, UA elites are being matched to the new Marriott Bonvoy Gold level including those UA elites who had gone Marriott Plat status during the Marriott / Starwood merger process. Marriott Bonvoy Gold does not include lounge access and late checkout is 2 PM

Tough crowd. You were and are still being comp'd Gold (25 nights or 10 nights with credit card). Yes, it has been devalued, but that was inevitable. There are still values to Gold, and you are getting for free.

Thought the 18 nights I have booked just between now and end of April would spare me from being downgraded. Will consider the 16 night Platinum challenge.. Already Gold with Hilton, wondering if they have a Diamond challenge and I'll move my stays. 1K status and LT Marriott Gold didn't help either. Congrats to any of you who manage to stay below the radar.

Try to figure this out. I have 3 family members who were United GS members (as MM companions) in each of the last 3 years. None of them has actually earned any other status on UA or Marriott:
1) GS in 2017 -- still Marriott Platinum
2) GS in 2018 -- was Marriott Plat, but just got downgraded to Marriott Gold
3) GS in 2019 -- was Marriott Gold from the start

Me, too: dropped to Gold this morning. Not a surprise, but yeah, I have expressly booked away from Marriott all year so far, and sure as heck won't be booking them in the near future unless on business travel (where I'm forced to). In fact, if I have a business trip, I'm going to ask my travel department to get me matched from my Hilton Diamond (haven't made the request before, but they offer it).
UA and Marriott both could have done much better with this, with giving Plat to GS and 1k and been out nothing.

The wiki hasn't been updated yet. So is the official Bonvoy status you get is Gold for being UA Gold and above? I earned Platinum in Bonvoy but wondering for next year as I know I won't get Platinum in Bonvoy again as earned. I am UA MM so as long as Marriott continues program guess I will be something. And where have you found the official matching? I read through the posts but didn't see a link. Sorry if I just missed it.
