One needs a gate pass. It has nothing "directly" to do with having the club membership or a one day pass. But it is not likely that buying the pass will convince a check-in agent to grant you a gate pass.

I'd go in early, and talk to the Premier check-in agents to ask for this favor - based on needing to help your wife.

I don't agree with the refundable ticket trick.

If you have a Club membership, just get a gate pass for the club. Simple as that. Then accompany your wife through security to the gate.
