Aeromar (VW) Flights now available for MileagePlus award redemption on united.com

Hi Everyone,

A few minutes ago, we launched award booking functionality for Aeromar (VW) flights on united.com. You can now use MileagePlus miles to redeem for any Aeromar flight.

As you may know, Aeromar is a business-oriented Mexican regional airline that operates an average of 100 daily flights throughout Mexico (plus limited international service to McAllen, TX).

Thanks, that is a good addition but aren't the redeeming mileage amounts off?

A round trip within Mexico with Aeromar is 35,000 miles (17,500 mile one way), which is the equivalent of an international trip between Mexico and the US. It seems like there should be a different (reduced) mileage amount for flights within Mexico only (which is what Aeromar flies mostly).

While 35K for a roundtrip in Mexico seems expensive, it is consistent with the mileage chart available.

Edit: I wonder if this pricing extends back to when it was assumed that one would have to transit the US to go from Mexico to Mexico?

And only 10K for a one-way from Mexico to Panama...

UA Insider, are there any plans for UA to partner with VW and allow UA Club members to access their lounge in McAllen?
