United thinks I flew a flight that I didn't.

I booked a one way flight AMA-IAH-AUS. I canceled the flight after check in. Now I'm trying to rebook under the same confirmation number and the website won't let me. The premier line and web support are convinced that I flew the AMA-IAH leg. I never left Austin that day!

This happened to me and it took 6 months to get my money back. Go and buy something with a credit card right now to show that you are not in your destination.

SERIOUSLY RIGHT NOW

Did you call back? Did you ask for a supervisor?

if your MP# was included to the reservation and the flight activity for AUS-IAH did not post to your account that would be a helpful argument in your favor.

brings up an interesting conversation though. UA tells you to save your BP as proof of travel. what do you save as proof of "not travel"? did you get a cancellation email confirmation from UA with a timestamp? if so that's more good evidence.

I'm going to try back tomorrow when I have a little more time. I will report back.

Can always go down to Mexico, get kidnapped, and have the kidnappers take a picture of you with today's newspaper.

This is why one should always cancel the check-in before cancelling the reservation.

This may be an obvious question, but did you cancel before the departure time of the flight? If not, the flight coupon gets used and has no value.

I did cancel before departure time. I was already checked in so I had to do it over the phone.

If they are willing to give you the PQM for that flight, you may have found the A for a Q that gets asked 1,000 times here on FT every December!

Did you board ( ie boarding passed scanned). I ask because folks deplane all the time if something comes up. Then it becomes a lot more tricky.

I did not board. I was never even in Amarillo.

Well I was able to rebook online without any trouble today. They must have fixed something when I hung up on them.
