3904 is doing the IAH-EWR-IAH and suppose to do SFO turn. You could have stayed over a day in SFO and asked to be rebooked with no fee at the same fare.
One other thing according to Flight Aware the 787 flew the SFO-IAH trip last night which is not correct as it was a 767-400. So much for their accuracy.
Also the same 767-400er SHIP 3062 will replace the IAH-ORD-IAH. IAH-LAX also 787 replaced with a 767. I hope alot of people did not book these flights to fly a 787 or you will have more unhappy people.

given United's horrible rate of cancellations and last minute swaps I am not shocked at all. But, it is a way-cool airplane. Don't you think?

I just experienced this on my ORD -> IAH leg today - had really been looking forward to flying on the Dreamliner but it was swapped for a 767 this morning.

According to the link below, United will refund or rebook in cases like this, and I can verify that they let me change to another flight without a fee.

I spoke with the FA's last night on my flight and they seem less than pleased with the 787. They said electrical issues are causing big problems.

3904 is down apparently.

Point is... I paid $500 each to be in BF on the Dreamliner (due to the 3-3-3 cabin) and wouldn't have done so on the 764.

3904 flew IAH-EWR today. 3906 is missing in action.

ship 3902 LAX-IAH swapped for a 772 today.

Not a bad swap so no complaints for me. Glad they made it proactively instead of waiting around at the gate.

I saw '06 on a taxiway (being unhooked from a tug) at LAX at about 0745 this morning. It flew UA1755 LAX-IAH.

What horrible rate of cancellations?

And, remember, while OP is on a MR with the aircraft as a bonus, most fliers just want to get from A-B. UA didn't cancel the flight, it found another aircraft to substitute. No good deed goes unpunished.

Was 1755 always scheduled as a 787 or was this a recent sub. So I guess down the line a person may get to ride a 787 that was not originally scheduled so this is reverse of subbing another aircraft for a originally scheduled 787.

I paid forthe upgrade on this leg.... And the whole trip was based on the two 787 legs IAH-EWR & SFO-IAH.

If we take our seats in F in the 764, do we have any recourse?
I just realized you were on my 1718 flight. Haha. I think I heard you guys talking in the galley with some of the FAs at one point.

I did the same thing as you. I was going solo from SFO-IAH-IAD and used my miles for upgrade. Looked 2 days ago and they had refunded me my miles, which I thought was a really good gesture.
