I didn't receive anything either. Now I may need to cancel my air ticket from Asia flying all the way back to SFO, & cancel the rental car, hotel stays, plus, these & that...

There will be a plane pull!
I just rec'd a call from the United employee who organizes the plane pull and he wanted to know if F/t was putting together a team. I told him that I am unable to make this year's event 
but would put the word out to see if someone will step up to be this year's team captain.

Note that the notice posted today said we would hear about attendance by the end of today (10/1) or tomorrow (10/2). So, I'm not sweating yet (even though it is hot in SF today).

Correct, there was an update posted on the first post around 7:30PM tonight saying that registration was closed and we would here by later tonight or tomorrow.

Award ticket? If you're 1K there's no harm in booking it now just in case. That way you have a fallback if the tickets are expensive.
