Rerout to avoid old config?

I'm currently conflicted about whether to reroute an upcoming trip. I'm booked ORD-PEK-SIN on UA/SQ in GF/C. As my luck would have it, I'm now on the one B777 to PEK lately, which irks me quite a bit since the chances of bad IFE and seat problems are much higher.

I'm actually considering a reroute ORD-NRT-SIN on UA/ANA in C, then gamble on a GPU for the ORD-NRT leg (currently looks pretty open). I think the cost will trade out similarly since my GF is in A.

Am I nuts? Is SQ C that much better than ANA C?

On an A fare, either should be a routing option, no?

Why would you need to downgrade to C and play the upgrade game?

I'd skip both and switch to SQ in HKG.
