And honestly was probably busy due to computers (yes, SHARES), seat assignment requests, etc.
I am pretty sure the GA wasn't sitting there waiting for 20 minutes out due to ToD possibilities. Seriously? At 20 min out, nobody would clear security in time.
Do I think battlefield UG's stink? Sure. But does it really matter to me? No.
I prefer it over the pmUA way - if you're not around when the UG is called out, the GA skips you.
Honestly, bringing up ToDs in every thread here just kills rational discussion.

I was on a CR7 BDL-IAD flight a few weeks ago. They started boarding wayyy early, like T-45 minutes. I showed up at T-30 as #2 on the list with F2. I had to request the GA to clear the upgrade manually as I boarded. I would have thought the remaining upgrades would have been processed when they started boarding.

SHARES isn't why upgrades are not done when you want them to be done.
It all depends on why we have open seats in F. If it's because we are not booked full and if all the Elites are checked in, then there is no reason why the upgrades are not done before boarding begins. Some agents prefer to wait until T minus 30 when they restrict the flt to their control to do the upgrades.

GA probably got p----ed off at asking 45 minutes out.

1) No she was not busy. She was shooting the breeze with another GA for at least 10 minutes immediately prior to starting the boarding process.
2) Three unbooked seats and I was #1 so I knew I would clear.....just didn't want to have to board with Group 17.
3) 17 of 17 checked in so they were not waiting for connecting pax or late check-ins.
4) And yes, they were selling TODs for $109. I booked the ticket earlier in the morning, and the cheapest fare differential at time of booking was over $700.
So either, an employee with a very bad work attitude, or else they've been told to milk the $TOD.
