UA Flight connects LGA to JFK ????

I am looking at a flight on Ual.com that arrives LGA and connection departs JFK. My question is does UA take care of transferrring baggage fron LGA to JFK? I assume it is up to me to get my self from LGA to JFK but it would be a real headache with allthe checked luggage also. Thanks to any one with experience doing this.

Unfortunately that's all on you - it's essentially two separate flights except for booking.

Don't do it unless you have 2, maybe 3 hours connection time. It's 10 miles but can easily be 45 minutes at the wrong time. You're probably on your own for bags.

Pain in the you know what.

DL will pay your taxi, but not transfer bags, if you're travelling internationally.

I don't know of any other carrier who pays the transfer.

In addition to the self-connection (line up Dial 7 to make your life easier), UA may not even be able to check you in and issue a boarding pass for the partner segment so factor in time to wait for checkin again.

On a UA issued ticket IAH-LGA/JFK-IST, UA at IAH was unable to check me in for JFK-IST. TK, OTOH, had no problem checking me in and issuing boarding passses all the way on the return.

May be the UA agent was still learning to use the new system (was it called SHARE?)

No. It's a pain and transfer times are on you. Only benefit is that UA is offering the through fare rather than adding two segments together.

Can easily take 45-60 mins at LGA to collect luggage and make it to the car service lane. Transit to JFK is dependent on time of day / traffic, but allow 45 mins. And, at JFK you are checking in as a new pax and should be there 2 hrs. prior to departure. Thus, allow 4 hours from scheduled arrival at LGA to scheduled depart at JFK. Or better, avoid this transfer.
