PN fare code confusing on UA900
For UA900 SFO-FRA (yes, hardest to upgrade) expertflyer shows PN=3. I am confused about this. Is UA900 applicable for upgrade for elites on B/M fares?
I am trying to figure out best way to increase chance for upgrade on this difficult flight (May 28). If a B fare gets me instant upgrade to BusinessFirst due to PN>0 I am all over it.
Can anyone confirm this is how it works or am I totally off base?

The insta ups are not eligible for flights CONUS to Europe. Called 1K line today with the same question. Odd that they even show that fare class for non eligible flights, even odder that it shows anything other than 0 or 9. Agent did say the PN insta up works to Asia, but website only says intra Asia. Have to use a GPU, buy up or miles.

It seems to be hard-coded the PN=P so PN shows even if not a CPU eligible flight. For non-CPU flights PN is meaningless.
