COnsolidated question: CPUs, Split PNR and E+
Forgive me for starting a new thread, but I've tried to find all the information piecemeal on the other threads and I just want to make sure I understand what I'm getting into.
I've got a reservation for 4; as a 1K, I am the only elite in the group and it's a roundtrip with connection.
1. I understand the only way to get a CPU would be to split the PNR into 2 and 2. What happens to the E+ seat assignments of the 2 GMs who end up on their own PNR? Do they lose the E+ seats?
2. Once split, it sounds like there is still a good chance that my elected companion and I will get split up , especially since the first leg is ORD-IAH. What will happen to her itinerary then for IRROPS? Does the second segment clear with the same priority as the first or is she on her own when we get to IAH?
3. I've heard the instructions to elect out of auto-check in for the return, but the last time I checked in using the mobile app, I unchecked the box and it still checked me in for the return. So how to I make sure to stop the auto check-in?
Thanks

COnsolidated question: CPUs, Split PNR and E+
Id love to hear the answer to number 3 as well. I can't figure this out either - last time, also, at a kiosk, i never even saw an auto check in reference, yet still was auto-checked in for the return.
For number 1, yes, that is the only way to get included in CPU in advance. Otherwise, you'll be excluded, but can pick a companion at the airport, and you and the person you picked will go on the airport list. I suspect if you split ahead of time, the other 2 might stay in E+ initially, but very well may get kicked out later in a sweep (I.e. consider the event they stay in a bonus).
As for being split, if you get cleared in advance, you shouldn't be split - you will both be in F on the same PNR. Youll be split only if you add yourself to the upgrade standby list when checking in. You can also both decline to be added to the upgrade standby list, and you'll still stay on the same PNR. However, IME, if you choose this option, you'll be included in CPU on the return, but if not upgraded by check in, you won't be able to be added to the upgrade standby list when checking in on the return and, it will be a hassle even for an agent to do it.
