GM upgrade to E+ question
Hi,
First time posting, but I looked through the threads and couldn't find anything similar.
I'm flying my first UA flight (SEA-NRT) as a GM, after being 2P for several years, on 5/10, with a friend. I selected two seats in E- at the time of booking but looking at our seats today, I've apparently been upgraded to E+ while my friend on the same PNR is still in E-, with more than 15 open seats both in E- and E+. We were still both next to each other in E- when I checked yesterday. My question is, should I keep these seats and hope that I can move my friend up to E+, or move myself back to E- so that we can sit together? I don't want to spend $100+ to move him up in the seat selector, but I would prefer to be next to each other.

Welcome to FT!
So you were just magically moved to an E+ seat? Strange.. will it allow you to select another E+ seat or are you hard coded into the seat you're in and not able to choose another E+ seat?
If your a general member they won't move your friend to E+ for free.. so if you want to sit together and don't want to pay the fee to move him up it's probably best that you just move yourself back to the seat next to him.

OP said they are Gold in their OP. Golds are eligible to move one person to E+ on the same flight. Call UA and have both of you seated in E+ for free.
