Partner upgrades

We will be taking NRT-SIN route and looking for best possible flight to upgrade. United site shows ANA or Air Japan? Can anyone provide any insight that would give us best chance to upgrade that route?

You can upgrade on ANA metal if on a Y or B fare (no code-share) and you are willing to spend the miles. I believe in this context Air Japan is a wet lease d/b/a ANA and it would also be eligible, but I'm not 100% certain. http://www.united.com/web/en-US/cont...rade/saua.aspx

Also of note is that currently *A upgrades aren't available so you might have to wait a bit more until they get that functionality back online.

Your best chance for upgrading is probably the UA operated 747 flight departing NRT around 6 pm. You can use a GPU or miles (and copay if required by fare class) to ugrade the UA operated flight from either coach to business or from business to first.

I upgraded from C to F on this route last month. It was available at the time of ticketing about 3 weeks in advance.
