Booked SFO to LON and got the upgrade today for copay+miles. I should have checked if the all mileage saver BF ticket was available first (50k miles in each direction). It is available in one direction but not the other. I find the prospect of paying 100k miles to be better than: $1000 for the seat, another $1000 for the copay plus 40k miles.
So, what I'd like to know is did I take a saver all mileage spot by doing the upgrade? and if i cancel it, will that go back into inventory as a saver fare? if so, I'm thinking of cancelling (still within 24 hours) and booking the all miles instead.
What does everyone think?

XC (award business) and NC (upgrade business) are different inventory buckets. It is quite possible that the inventory will not go back to the NC bucket immediately (or at all).

Also, is there a FlyerTalk notification for those buckets?
Thanks!
