Nickle and Diming

I've been very patient so far with the merger; won some, lost some, but now it seems it's getting almost petty. About 2 to 3 weeks ago they dropped the discount for drinks in Y on PMCO when using the PP card. Last week they changed from Verve Cliquot to Moet in the Club, a cheaper bubbles, same price, but still got the $3 discount using the card......until yesterday. Now no discount on that either. Talked to the bar staff and they told me no advance notice.

When is this nickle and diming going to end???

It will end when a critical mass of flyers leave for other airlines, that will teach UA.

Wow.

Didn't know they dropped the PP credit card discount on premium spirits.
(I don't have the card as my company pays for the UC membership.)

The accountants that run UA worry about nickels and dimes, while the LCCs are taking customers and making $10s and $20s.

When you run an airline by spreadsheet this is what happens.

Bet this costs UA $0 or close to it in business and saves a ton more. This stuff won't likely affect who does and doesn't jump ship.

But... Moet! However will we survive? I'd rather drink dirty bilgewater than have to drink mere Moet!

Or MAYBE it has to do with the fact that Chase stopped subsidising these deals due to the CO contract expiring - ya think?

Many times I have paid more for UA as I enjoy their channel 9. On our last trip on UA, from TPA through IAH to SNA we were on a 737 and then a 757, as I recall. I had the earphones, saved from the first flight to IAH but was told I'd have to pay for any audio [on each flight?!-all short hops]. I was very disappointed to be on UA unable to hear channel 9 but since we paid a high fare and had to check in our bags for $25 each to boot [you board only to discover there's no room in the bin for your bag] I was not in the mood to buy audio or food on board. But I shall well remember this when choosing our next flight. This is very bad PR that all the media ads can not counteract.

They also quitely dropped the discount for D-TV. I don't see much benefit to having the card any longer. You can get an AMEX PLAT, and use your $250 travel credit on A US Air Club card, and have a much better deal with a card that does much more! Loyal CO flyers are going to show Jeff changes he does not like as we flock to other carriers.

Wasn't this all subsidized by Chase? Not sure this has anything to do w. UA at all.

Vueve Cliquot has been in short supply for several months now and I think this is temporary. The same thing happened last year with the Caymus.
Looks like the new darling of the UA CC world is the UA Mulage Plus Club Visa card. The are advertising it everywhere. no PP adverts anywhere.

I had no problem finding some for New Year's Eve. There is ample stock at the two Tom Thumb (Safeway) stores nearby, as well as Albertson's and Target.
