UA's 737-900 Aircraft With no Entertainment System
I just flew from EWR-SAN on a very new 737-900 but there was no entertainment system. seemed odd for a new plane and a 6 hour flight. cost saving?

I was told that the seats, interior cabin couldn't be installed due to fraud on fire safety exams by the japanese supplier ... consequently no IFE ... They keep on bouncing that/those planes around on the route network

Welcome to HP/US from the finest people in the industry. Makes you wish you had the green screens on a UA 757 doesn't it?
ETA - I have flown PDX - EWR/IAH on these. I am not a big user of IFE on domestic so not really a big deal for me. I just think it doesn't show well for UAL not to have a consistent product. At least UAL's 733s had audio and I always listen to Channel 9 when the Captain thinks its appropirate for me to listen.

I got burned by this recently as well...forgot to check the "flight status" beforehand to insure the aircraft had DTV installed.

Nice that they're finally finishing.
I wish CO would keep it's website updated like it used to. Especially with the lie-flat seats. They used to be excellent on updates, but don't seem to bother at all anymore.
