Using a SWU and crediting miles to a different program?
I am on my way to make 1K next year. However, for a number of reasons I am considering to jump the ship next year to Aeroplan. I was wondering, how this would affect my possibilities to use my SWUs. In particular, I have two questions:
1.) Is it possible to use a SWU on UA metal but credit the miles to Aeroplan?
2.) Does this affect my chance that the SWU clears if I am waitlisted?
Any information is appreciated. Many thanks!

I am currently trying exactly that. Using a SWU on a CO flight (waitlisted) and crediting SAS (EB no still in my PNR). From what I have been told from CO CS, it should work. I will know by next weekend (only if the SWUs clear though).

1) Yes
2) Yes as SWU upgrade priority is status based.

2. Technically no, It doesn't matter the status of the flyer, it's the account the SWU came from. You could use a SWU on someone who doesnt credit any account.
