Need Help! First time mile usage
Hey all,
I have been reading this forum for the last week or so, but just finally registered as I need your help! You guys are great at finding the best bargain/routes to take on your travels and I feel like I have explored all my options but figured I would see if any of you have any tricks I could use. This is my first time using miles for a flight, so I am very new to this.
I have 50,500 on Continental and 100k+ on AA. I am trying to go to San Jose Costa Rica from either Boston, Hartford, or New York on June 9th, and Fly back ideally to Boston on June 22nd. It has to be on those two days as I am meeting people and they will only be in town those days.
The better flights I found are on AA, but they are 30k each way (couple weeks ago they were much lower, waited too long ) The best value on Continental was 17.5k one way and then 35k the other way. I could go for 35k total, but it would require me staying 10+hrs at the airport in newark. I'd rather not do that if there was a way around it.
Also, I don't know a lot of the lingo/acronyms you guys use so if you do have any tips, could you layman's terms, thanks!
Any tips/tricks/suggestions for my travel plan?
I am trying to book it tonight as it is coming up.
I appreciate any information you guys can provide!
Thanks
- Mike
* Not sure best place to post this, sorry for the double post
