Hello Box!

Welcome back! Long time no talk. How's the butter churning coming along?

very interesting developments.
I dont use SDC very much at all...but I can see how others may not "like that change".

If you don't like the ability to change the routing then you are a bad Flyertalker. These are changes I like.

The ability to change routing has always existed in the CO system. No need to screw the 24 hour window just to get to that point.

I appreciate what you are saying.

However, what I meant is that I rarely ever change my flight plans. I rarely would ever have the luxury of taking alternate routes / earlier flights / later flights, etc.

You couldn't on UA.

I know. So we're trading away the 24 hour window to a 3 hour window just so UA folks can change routing. That's a downgrade in my book.

This seems as good a post as any for the new #1000.

I have booked a UA flight to ORD on a Thursday several weeks out and there are no aisle seats left in the entire plane (and no window seats left in E+). If I didn't know that there was a big conference in Chicago when I am flying, I might be very impressed.

I figured a middle seat in E+ was better than a window seat in regular Y, even though the middle isn't taken yet.

I didn't even realize it was 1k :D

On a totally unrelated topic, I have to do something I never thought I'd do: praise the moron...eh...maroon coats at EWR.

Was flying home from there on Sun with a tweaked knee so I had a crutch with me to keep some weight off it (but could walk w/o it too). As I headed into the Elite security line I was intercepted my a maroon coat and immediately started to reach for my phone to show them the EliteAccess screen, but the guy insisted I follow him. He walked me right up to the TSA podium skipping the entire line. Fastest I've ever gone through EWR security. :)

This gave me enough time to down a couple drinks in the PC as an extra bonus. ^^

Agree totally here oh wise one. Of course, there is no uproar in teh general forum over this, but hey, zone boarding is crucial.

Well it is an upgrade for most of the folks used to whining so that should keep things quiet. ;)

I'm still not 100% convinced that they can make this change this way at whim. There is the little problem that CO has placed their SDC policies in the fare rules:

Doesn't seem to me that they can just change that randomly for existing tickets.

Being used to UA, I find same day changes and improvement, although it's a downgrade for teh CO folks.

stallion114 May 16, 2011 7:22 pm

Got a choice of 20% off any ticket or $75 ecert for a Mech delay that caused overnight in IAD due to missed connection. I asked for compensation when the UA employee printed my hotel voucher.
Which should I take, may or may not be doing an intl trip on UA for the 20%.

Can you stack % off with VDBs or ecerts?

Someone just advise which to take as I have been waiting for weeks to decide and want to do it tonight before I forget and it expires.

Pretty sure they aren't stackable but I'd take the 20% over $75. Figure the break-even point there is $375 and that's not all that hard to break for airfare these days. :(

How could you give up 10 earned runs in an inning and have the coach leave you in the game to go back out the next day? Apparently the Royals aren't even bothering to try.
