HA "NF" is not worth the 25k miles since that is more than the "discounted award" 1-way trans-pac of 17.5k. The service is a bit better than UA, but the FA's do disappear as soon as the meal is over. I used to upgrade on HA for 15k miles, but 25k is a bit steep for me. They do offer Pualani's the option to purchase a discounted upgrade for cash if available, but sometimes those can also be over $300...
How does that help you find the geographical midpoint time? I suppose you could watch it and note the time that distance 'down' and 'to go' are equal. Probably get you as close as doing equations.

Yes...the UA flights to Hawaii have seemed more conventional as of late... with all the Hawaiian ambiance of a flight to Boston--especially the ones of the west coast it seems. UA used to be pretty good about it too....let's hope things like this continue.

Actually I was mildly concerned that my flight wouldn't have the game, because normally the Halfway Game form is with the Agricultural form on the seat when you board. There was only the AG card. During the announcements after takeoff the purser mentioned the Halfway Game and said that they would be distributing the entry forms.

But flew DEN-OGG a couple of weeks ago, and did not have the game on, sadly.

Halfway to Hawaii
When I flew out to Hawaii last Thanksgiving break I was with my family of 6. I, being 16, spent a few minutes doing the simple math, and I put down my time and went to sleep. My sister changed my time a bit and put it on her card, and my mom did the same. They ended up winning 1st and 2nd, I was a few seconds off of 3rd.

halfway to hawaii game
I fly ORD-HNL a couple of times a year and I always lose at this game. Can anyone explain to me what are the proper calculations to figure out the right time to win? Has anybobody here won this game? Thanks.

So just calculate the best answer you can using math and then guess how much reality will differ.
