Empty F seats even with CPU (EUA/UDU)?

I was in F and 8 empty, maybe 7. I was 4F and empty, 4E, 4B, 5B, 3E, 2 in row 1 and 2 window seats in 2 and 3. Pretty sure that was the empties. Pretty sure back of the cabin was about 30-40% full also. Weird for this route out of EWR as I do it a lot.

well, the last two that were upgraded arrived in ORD with plenty of time, so they should have no showed and they show in those seats. Maybe they were upgraded and gate agents didnt actually give them the seats.

SAN-IAH Flt 1457 July 4th 1 empty seat in front of me. Was in 2F, so do not know about behind me (did not look). 737-900
IAH-GDL Flt 332 July 4th No empty seats in first. A319 - only eight seats.
GDL-IAH Flt 335 July 5th One empty seat 1A in front of me. A319 - only eight seats.
IAH-SAN Flt 585 July 5th Three empty seats 1A, 2B, 2E around me. In 2A, so did not look behind me. (Booked on this flight as misconnected to earlier flight.) 757-200
IAH-GDL Flt 332 July 4th No empty seats in first. A319 - only eight seats.
GDL-IAH Flt 335 July 5th One empty seat 1A in front of me. A319 - only eight seats.

7/10 UA1133 CUN-IAD only 10 of 20 F seats taken (739). We (three + 1 lap infant) were on award tickets that inherited Premier Gold status and received CPU at T-48 and T-24.

UA 6440 cos / lax nov 4 2014. Cr7. Five of six seats filled. Upgrade list showed exactly 5 people on list.
How far this station has fallen. Latest UA flight ex-COS tonight was 4:32 pm. In its hey day, flights to DEN left at as late as 7pm-ish.
This station once had wide bodies with direct service to NRT (stopping in DEN).
Meanwhile COS added a lounge. Free parking for the rest of the year.
Doesn't look good.
