Really, Hungerford Bridge over Waterloo Bridge every time. The view is remarkably similar (Hungerford Bridge is a footbridge slightly to the west of Waterloo Bridge - it was recently rebuilt and there are two footbridges now running either side of the train bridge out of Charing Cross - the footbridge on the Waterloo Bridge side has the best view).

Ah, even better, you would get a good view of Waterloo Bridge itself then. Yes, that is much better. The view of Waterloo Bridge with Big Ben in the background is iconic with some help from Monet. You could have one of those pictures, well, okay a print copy to remind you of it.

Are you sure you're thinking of Waterloo Bridge, and not Westminster Bridge? Waterloo Bridge is the rather ugly, concrete one, that after hours is half parked cars and half speeding buses. Westminster Bridge currently has half of it roped off with scaffolding and the like.

I think so, although I agree with the Hungerford suggestion so that you can see Waterloo Bridge

. . .What about a private observation pod on the London Eye at the top of its rotation at sunset? . . .

Not a bad idea since one could have champagne etc. if I'm not mistaken. It would indeed be a memorable moment in a pod all alone.

( though at my stage, if I did something like this with my wife as a reproposal, she'd probably tell me to go jump in a river, which of course would be uncomfortably too close for comfort).

good luck with whatever you choose.

A private one for two is mucho dinero. Several hundred quid. A friend of mine looked into it. He just bought two ordinary tickets and dropped to one knee in a podfull of strangers.

Ahhh but with Waterloo Bridge, you get to buy the Video to either put her in the mood before hand (even better if you can spend some cash, see if the National Film Institute will do a private showing for you) or you've already got your wedding present to her sorted!

At sunrise, this is the view

Thumbs up

Many congratulations!!!

however can I just clarify - did you have someone taking photos as you proposed???

also, if you are leaving your "mark" in the sand in the UK - we write the dates dd/mm/yy rather than mm/dd/yy!!

Wonderful. Delighted for you, and especially pleased that the weather co-operated.

We were with friends and they decided to take the photos from the seating area. And the sand markings were her, I would never make that mistake.
