Airside Transfer LHR 4 --> 3 - is there passport control? Timing?
Hey y'all,
Been reading some junky information on the interwebs and thought I'd come here to the source for some reality.
Need to buy a hop - PAR-LHR to connect to my VS PE LHR-JFK leaving at 4:35PM.
I *REALLY* would prefer to go ORY rather than CDG, and there's a Vueling flight at 2PM, arriving at 2:25.
I can't think why I wouldn't have a boarding pass already for the VS flight and no checked bags and I'll have fast track etc.
(I know all about the separate tickets and risk of misconnects - thanks.)
Just wondering about the airside transfer busses and if I can avoid passport control.
I can move quickly and know my way around airports, but not sure how smooth this process is.
And I want at least a few minutes to a stop at the Clubhouse on the way out.
Anyone done it recently? Have any thoughts?
thanks!

Yes, if you have your VS boarding pass you can avoid passport control, but there will be security in T3. Most likely you will have a few minutes for the lounge but not much more

IIRC there is a passport check after you get off the bus but before you enter security - it’s basically do you have one and a quick look but not immigration,

There should not be any passport check for a normal airside transfer - if you witnessed it happening that was for a targeted reason (perhaps for a passenger's nationality requiring a transit visa, for example). In that case I would expect a Border Force officer to be at the door of the incoming flight, not after the bus journey.

The only time at LHR that I've had a passport check on a transfer is when connecting from international to domestic. International to international transfers do not have passport checks.

So if were flying on BA CDG to LHR Terminal 5 then LHR Terminal 5 to IAH, will there be any passport check or security screening? Or will it be just a matter of getting off one plane and getting to the gate to board the next plane?

You'll go through a security check. When you land at LHR, follow the purple connections signs.

Make sure you have your onward boarding pass either printed out or on your phone. There will be a customer service desk in the transfers area if you need to get them to issue it for you.
