Also a general rule in UK & Ireland, if someone accepts card then that includes ApplePay / contactless payment. I cannot recall seeing a card machine that wasn't contactless in donkey's years, or at least not since pre-Covid.
The one exception I find (globally) is hotels and car rentals often insist on you presenting a physical card for authorisation, even if you can pay the actual bill with Apple Pay. I find this very irritating, but try to have the card ready in mitigation.
