Heathrow T5 to T3

Hi there

Is anyone familiar with Heathrow?
I have seen conflicting info on this Terminal transfer issue.

I am arriving internationally into T5, then going to depart to a domestic plane in T3.

I have been told that leaving and then re-entering security is not needed.
But then I also see that you do have to do that.
I guess I'm seeing advice from different eras, but what's it like now in 2018?

My transfer window is not huge (100mins) and I don't want to get stuck having to get back in through security. Or at the very least I wonder if I might have to do some polite queue jumping

Any insights please?

- Cheers

Single ticket or separate bookings?

You do clear immigration and then reclear security, though it can all be done in the transit process rather than going outside IIRC. Assuming a single ticket or no checked bags follow the signs for flight transfers to T3, take the bus, then follow the additional signs once in T3.

https://www.heathrow.com/flight-connections is a solid guide for what to do.

If you have checked bags and are on separate bookings you're pretty much screwed. You'll have to do the full arrivals process then transfer terminals with your bags then check in and clear security again.

Are you sure your domestic flight is from T3? I may be out of date, but I thought all domestic flights were from either T5 (BA) or T2 (Flybe, Aer Lingus).

(Edit: unless it's Gibraltar, but that's not treated as a domestic flight.)

Otherwise, what @sbm12 said

Wow !!!

I completely misread my ticket.
Hahahah

Shanghai to Heathrow, arriving T5
Heathrow to Manchester departing T5 too.
But arriving at Manchester T3.

D'oh !!!

ok, ignore me.
Idiot here.

I'm just a bit overly sensitive to this stuff since I missed my connection last time I flew due to a delay.

Easily done

You will still have to go through security and immigration in LHR T5, however, but you'll be able to pick up your bags and clear customs in Manchester.

There's a slightly quirky process for domestic departures in mixed terminals in the UK where you'll have a digital photograph taken before entering the secure area, which will be verified at the departure gate, in lieu of photo ID.

Still happy there's gonna be no multiple terminal dash in that 100 minute window. Phew.....

T5-T3 MCT is 90 minutes. many thousands of people do this in a lot less time than that every day of the week.

T5-T5 MCT is 60 minutes and again many people do it well within the time.

Somethign really has to have gone wrong not to do it in that time.
