Uber in Belfast

I'm thinking of spending a night near BFS and Uber'ing into town. Not wanting to drive after an all night flight and figure the Uber driver might make a good tour guide and a source of restaurant/pub recommendations. Any comments?

Yeah I don't generally rely on Uber drivers to be decent tour guides. It's luck of the draw. Just be happy if they can get you from point A to B lol

Uber is very new in Belfast and I wouldn't be too sure about their drivers skills as a city guide.

A taxi from BFS to the city centre is about 25 depending on traffic. There is a taxi company operating out of the terminal building but they are more expensive.

Belfast has 2 major taxi companies (Fonacab and ValueCab). You would have to call to pre-book but they always have cars near BFS and you will be perfectly safe with either. They also do city tours which cost (I think) about 20 per hour.

There is a regular bus service to/from BFS which will drop you in the city centre (10.50 for a return ticket).

There is also a bus tour of the city that you can use (just google belfast city sightseeing).

As for restaurants and bars.....the Cathedral Quarter has lots of both and you can easily walk around the area and see what takes your fancy. There are a few more upmarket restaurants around the City Hall area - Meat Locker, Love Fish, Coco, Bar + Grill at James Street South and Eipic (Michelin *). Ox is another Michelin * option.

Happy Travels.

As above, Uber is quite new in Belfast. You may get lucky in that the driver is local and has lived there for a while, and may be able to help. Even in other cities I've been in where Uber is established, drivers still don't know where I want to go and rely on GPS.

Probably best to seek an alternative for suggestions. maybe trip advisor?

As a post trip note. No 4G at BFS. Could not use the Uber app???. Hired a Taxi driver at airport who had lived in Belfast for 65 years. Got a 2 1/2 hour tour for L40. Great deal, personal tour for the cost of a coach tour.

Used the Uber app in Dublin. Found another local taxi driver who was also hooked up with Uber. Got anther great personal tour of city for E23.

Glad I did not have to drive in either city!
