Easter in Ireland?

Hi Ireland Gurus,

Thinking of a trip to Ireland over the Easter holidays. Is this a good time to visit, or would we find most places (attractions, restaurants, etc.) closed for the holiday?

Thanks!

For one thing, there will be a number of major events taking place across Dublin during Easter week of 2016 - events commemorating the centenary of the Irish Rising.

Thanks for the reply.

Not sure if this would be a good or bad to time visit.....anymore insights on if most places would be open or shut due to this?

If you are interested in Irish history, it would be a fascinating time to visit, in my view.

Possibly hotels in Dublin will have higher rates and may be full during the week - but I'm just speculating on that.

Don't expect to get a drink on Good Friday - pubs do not open on that day! Quite a disappointment if that's your idea of a nice evening out in Ireland.
