Flybe and Taunton.

Going on a cruise in May. After cruise I'm flying on Flybe from BCN to EXT. Two questions..has anyone here flown on Flybe and how are they. Two: is there anything interesting in Taunton when my uncle is not driving me around

I've only flown FlyBe once and it was a few years ago. They were perfectly ok for a low cost airline - just don't expect much. Do make sure that you buy your ticket with a credit card which will refund you should they go bust.....

As to Taunton, there's not a lot interesting in Taunton itself but it's in a beautiful part of the country so if you can get outside of the town you should enjoy yourself. The other thing to do, of course, is enjoy the local scrumpy - so don't plan too much for the following morning.

There is a cricket ground. Once you've seen a cricket match, anything else will seem extremely interesting.

As above, there's the local cider A few pints of that and you won't be bothered about eating.

And Somerset is where Cheddar cheese originates from.

What more could you want!

And even if you did want more, Taunton won't have it.

You could try a steam train journey on the West Somerset Railway, which starts at Bishop's Lydeard (4 miles from Taunton), passes along the fringes of Exmoor then reaches the coast at Watchet, and continues to Minehead.

The Castle Hotel isn't what it was, but it is still a very good place to eat.

My Dad used to be station master at Taunton and he's never mentioned anything very exciting. Well other than heavy snow and train crashes but that's all been cleared up

Any chance that the Wurzels might be playing a gig at the time? Looking at their schedule for 2013 I think there's scope

So my uncle has decided to drive me around after all. One day to Lynton and Lynmouth and another day to Bath.
