Oh, I don't know, it's pretty much what you'd expect from modern politicians. Most of them seem to be career politicians precisely because they're pretty useless at anything else. :D

There was another moron on the today programme this morning saying, in the context of connecting flights, that there was "plenty" of capacity at other airports. Not sure he's ever taken a connecting flight in his life.

So that would be like FR having a connecting flight when you land at STN (London North) and the next one goes from LGW (London South)?

No, no....London (North) is Prestwick in FR speak ;)

But she completely fails to mention that by the new R3 handling a good deal of the NB and short-haul WB aircraft it will free up a significant number of take-off and landing slots on the existing full-length pair of runways....so still providing a very worthwhile overall capacity increase.

A baffling (but highly predictable for a politician) statement by her

I always remember that someone once said politicians are rarely fit for purpose, and become even less so when they become a minister.

I find it discomfiting that Ms Greening has such a shallow understanding of her brief. Or perhaps she just parrots what her "Sir Humphrey" tells her to say.

The Official Monster Raving Loony Party had a manifesto promise one election that said to work in the treasury you would have to have maths qualifications. Sounds very sensible in my book to apply that to all of them.

Do they seriously fly from there?

visualAd Aug 29, 2012 3:39 am

I can only imagine the looks on tourists faces when they arrive at 'London Oxford' to find they need travel 30mins on a bus and another 1.5hrs on a train to reach the west of central London.

I love watching the third runway ripping apart the Conservative Party. Serves this party full of self interested idiots right for having such a stupid manifesto pledge in the first place.

I wonder how air head Cameron is going to deal with it?

Well, exactly, it was designed to capture votes on the flightpath. End of. Totally wrong that policy should be made like this and that Greening and Osborne say we can consider any option except R3.

OXF does now seem to be referred to as London Oxford Airport, at least according to their website: http://www.oxfordairport.co.uk/

As to what flies from there, that's another matter :)
