TWA Launches a 'More For Less' Sale

TWA Launches a 'More For Less' Sale
More Room Throughout Coach on More Planes Every Day Coupled With Low Fall Fares Means Superior Travel Value

ST. LOUIS, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- TWA is giving passengers ``More for Less'' in a systemwide fare sale for travel for the rest of the summer and this fall. Even more savings and extra Aviators® miles are in store for those booking on TWA.com .

``TWA is offering our customers more -- 'More Room Throughout Coach' -- on more of our aircraft every day. As of today, more than 25% of the TWA narrow- body fleet of MD-80 and Boeing 717 and 757 planes have been converted to American's spacious 'More Room' cabin configuration. We're pulling out seats and adding legroom to three more planes every day, with the goal of converting the entire narrow-body fleet by Labor Day,'' said Mark Abels, TWA Vice President-Corporate Communications. ``And now, with this great new fare sale, our customers have an outstanding opportunity to enjoy 'More' for less.''

Tickets at the sale fares are available starting July 24 for travel on American, TWA, American Eagle and Trans World Express®, with a last ticketing date of Aug. 6, 2001. Travel within the United States and between the U.S. and Canada must be completed by Dec. 16, 2001, and travel to international destinations must be completed by Dec. 13, 2001. Tickets are non-refundable and a Saturday night stay is required.

The savings get even bigger when you book through TWA.com . Travelers booking these sale fares on TWA's website will enjoy additional savings of up to 10 percent and will receive up to 5,000 bonus Aviators® miles. TWA.com is offering a bonus of 5,000 miles for first time bookings and 2,500 miles for repeat bookings on TWA and Trans World Express. To qualify, bookings must be made by Aug. 6, 2001, and ticketing is required at the time the reservation is made. Travel must be completed by November 30, 2001. Registration prior to travel using registration code 72486 is required. Visit TWA.com for complete details.

For travel in the continental United States, Hawaii and Canada, a 14-day advance purchase is required. Sale fares shown in the example are available to Florida on Sunday through Tuesday and from Florida on Wednesday through Friday. For all other destinations, sale fares shown in the examples are available noon Monday through noon Thursday and after noon on Saturday. Other travel days are available at additional cost.

I don't know what to make of this most recent change in fares. These fare changes are mostly in the H, V, and Z fare classes, so availability will be somewhat better. But they are only valid noon Monday to noon Thursday and then afternoon on Saturday (till midnight).

Also, quite a few of the very cheap $58, $78, $98 Southwest-matching fares (Z class) are now gone. Though these were fares were highly restrictive Tue/Wed/Sat travel with exceptionally limited availability.

From the wording on the internet about the 2,500 mile bonus promotion I don't quite get it. Is it 2,500 miles per booking for everyone? Or just for first-time bookings? The rules look like they were written by a 10-year old.

It will take some serious sifting to find anything of value in these fares.

as for 'more room' TW is doing it to put its planes in line with AAs. It wasnt too many years ago that they came up with 'Comfort Class' which did in fact give alot more room, then it was done away with not too long after it was implemented.
Hope AA keeps it longer, just did a couple of segs with AA it made a difference.
