It's about time. I'm sorry that TWA is disappointing all you naysayers who were predicting the death of TWA once again, but this is hardly the move of an airline about to die. In fact, it's a very positive move in the right direction.

They also announced a code share with Air Europa, Spains largest private airline.

Through all the press releases and information there is no news yet about how the frequent flyer programs will integrate. As an Elite 1 will I be able to upgrade to first on a HP metal but TW coded flight? What about bonus miles and such? I kind of wish that they had covered some of those details. It would certainly help build enthusiasm about this.

I certainly hope that flying a TW coded flight will result in all the benefits of flying TW metal. HP has some pretty cheap fares that I have been tempted to use, but reluctant because I'm chained to my frequent flyer benefits.

As for Air Europa, has anyone else out there ever flown them other than me? I flew them 3 years ago from JFK to Madrid. They fly 767's with a 2-4-2 configuration. Awful. The only solace being the flight wasn't too crowded and I was able to snag the center 4 seats as a bed. I'm sure I can't imagine flying these guys again across the pond, even for TWA miles. I believe they have some form of business class that looked hardly tolerable too.

All this codeshare news is interesting, but there are still so many details missing regarding the frequent flyer programs. Hopefully, they'll get their act together and fill us in.

2-4-2 across on a 767? Didn't know it was possible! I have seen 3-3-3 on Airbus-es, and 3-4-3 on L-1011s/DC10s/MD11s, but didn't think that u could squeeze in another seat on the 747/767.

They're part of Qualiflyer, I see so maybe they've improved that kind of thing.

Well, Jamiel, you may be right about the seating. I looked at their website and it looks like they've changed the setup in their aircraft. The seating chart for the 767 shows a full 3-cabin setup, 2-1-2 in first, 2-2-2 in business, and 2-3-2 in coach.

I was amazed as anyone when I got on the plane in JFK and saw the setup. Even more amazed when I found myself surrounded by other passengers sitting in a center seat towards the front of the cabin while 10 rows of the back of the cabin were totally empty. Go figure.

Anyway, I'm glad to see that the service has changed somewhat, it changes my outlook entirely towards Air Europa. Hey, they can't be any worse than Iberia. Not only that, they were publishing some killer fares from JFK to MAD, $176 roundtrip. That's gone now, but it's still cheap.

I'm still curious to see how the frequent flyer issues are handled.

Does anyone know if I fly Am. West codeshare with my TWA FF #, will I get the bonuses for being platinum -- and will miles count toward the Platinum level for next year?

How about other bonuses such as the free 1st class ticket if spend $1,500 program?

I am already booked for Dec., but curious as to how this will work for future.

In regard to your first question, that is the big question that many of us elite FF's are waiting for. So far, there is no answer to that question. From what I've read, though, the 'experts' seem to think that we will garner the same benefits once the codeshare is implemented. I, for one, will be pretty pissed off if the new deal doesn't earn me credit towards elite status if I choose to fly Am West. I'd be no more inclined to use them than any other airline.

As to the $1,500 promo that's being offered by TWA, I would find it very unlikely that the promo would apply to AWA flights. This was offered solely by TWA prior to any codeshare announcement being made, and AWA certainly had nothing to do with it.

The FC ticket offers in mid-December, well before any code share with HP would start.
