The Airline That Refuses To Die
On my TV at the 3* Airport Hotel there is a channel that displays all the airline departure schedules, one airline at a time, black-and-white VT-100 style. Believe it or not, there is a page that reads:
Trans World Airines
TWA - We're Up To Something Good
For reservations call 1-800-221-2000

Try calling the number, the recording states that the number is being held by AMR Corporation, that it is currently inactive (used from time to time) and can not be aquired by anyone else.

It's such an easy number to remember so I'm surprised AMR doesn't use it as the main AA toll free number in conjuction with their current 800 number.
