$770 in surcharge for one-way business. is it normal?

I'm trying to book a business class flight. It's 125k miles plus $770 which sounds extra ordinarily high. I've currently got 47k miles and the only reason why im thinking of using turkish is because my miles are set to expire at the end of the year.

Also, how do I go about buying 2-3 award tickets? The site doesn't allow me to book more than 1.

You are looking at the more expensive TK M&S standard award which you can book until the last seat available (this is a feature only available to TK M&S members; not partner FFP). The promotional awards at 45k are difficult to find though (limited availability) as also available to members of partner FFP.

Ex US the surcharges are very high. But USD 770 sounds excessive.

You need to call TK CS make this reservation.

$770 seem very high. ~$250 is the usual surcharge for o/w on long haul. I’m able to buy 2 award tickets.

What’s your route? Are you new to TK FFP? Have you ever bought an award ticket before?

Also, how close-in, or how far in advance, is the flight you're looking at? Is this for travel during high/peak demand periods (upcoming holidays, etc.)?

In some systems, "prices" for last-minute (or nearly last minute) flights, or for flights during holidays/periods of high demand, can be shockingly high.

Don't know if that applies to TK award surcharges or not (I agree, $770 does sound high), but it might be informative.

Never seen TK award ticket surcharge be based on the date of purchase. The only difference in price I’ve seen is whether it’s X or I ticket.

Correct/me neither. There is no dynamic pricing to my knowledge (fortunately).

Star Alliance awards in my experience are having much more expensive surcharges than own TK (but also rather costly now). Has nothing to do whether X or I class i believe...

In July 22 I was trying to get a OW C award with OZ with LH from YYZ to CPH. The surcharge was $890 (USD) - even the agent said it's high. So $770 doesn't seem high to me.

Partner rewards can have high surcharges. TK metal shouldn't.

It sounds like the OP has a combination of:
  1. Expiring miles, enough to be relevant
  2. No prior redemption history
  3. Lots of Citi points
We all know that never ends well...

I was checking EDI-IST-SIN promotion business award ticket in 2024 September/October. It is 45k miles and £440 one way.

But that would just explain £185 of the amount. The rest should be YQ.
