Yeah, 'cause neither searches for "TK1920" nor your link tell me why this flight is so special.

The flight will draw a Turkish flag. You can follow it now on FR24.

I am loving this. Now they are close to ASR and flying for the star! Beautiful!

It is a B777. Reg TC-JJF.

So only FR nerds can see this? Seems like an odd thing to do.

Any flight tracking app. Plenty of airlines have done similar stuff before. It usually gets picked up in the media. This being Turkey I bet it was prime news.

I know, but it just seems like a huge waste of resources on something that can’t be properly seem and will be forgotten by tomorrow, even if it does hit the news.

Why? Pilots need to log up flight hours. And this is a very nice way to do it. Especially in these times.

I don't doubt you, but I'd love to know of any sillier use of a wide-body jet.

But discussion is what life on FT is all about

Flypasts, such as BA's centenary effort incorporating the Red Arrows at the Tattoo, are very visible displays that entertain the public. They are represent the type of event popular at airshows around the world.

It would be great if TK and the Turkish Air Force managed a low and slow celebratory flypast along the Bosphorus. Enjoyment, thrill and a glow of national pride.

But a bit of nonsense requiring translation through flight monitoring screens seems just a bit, well, odd!
