E+ upgrades validity
I understand that for each E+ year I get two free upgrades. (Subject to etc etc). I've never been able to use the privilege, but I'm resolved to keep trying :)
Logic suggests validity ]for each pair of upgrades would be my Elite year (July for me), rather than a calendar year: but logic sometimes goes out of the window in M&S-world, so I'm posting to check ..... Cheers! |

You can also book upgrades BEFORE their expiry for use AFTER the end of your elite year, but you cannot make any further changes once the upgrade certificates have expired. |

The scenario above is called upgrade carry over, now if you want to credit the voucher and change upgrade routing, this would require voucher re-deposit and re-use, with $25 fee, just like miles. Obviously if it's expired and you re-deposit, the voucher will be invalid. p.s. If you ever have to do this, please try to get it done at competent ticketing office, rather than over the phone. |

I thought these "certificates' were like the (to me, useless) e-vouchers Lufthansa hands out then rips away two years later, so I never gave them much attention. There's talk of "certificates", but i'm guessing these don't exist outside figurative use. There's not even any mention of upgrade instrument on my profile page, sonI'm not sure how to keep track of them. At leas Lufthansa logs the arrival of e-vouchers and they are displayed prominently on profiles. |

Some were able to get TK to release J seats when there's none. 2. Some were able to upgrade 2 segments AAA-IST-BBB with stopovers over 24 hours, when you upgrade AAA-BBB, they're supposed to be the shortest possible connections, check award bookings as examples for your city pairs. |

Shortest connection is incorrect. I don't know about a 24+ hour stopover, but I've definitely upgraded the flights I wanted / booked, rather than the shortest possible connection.
Shortest possible connection only applies to the free hotel. |
I've heard a few interpretations from TK agents:
1) The flights need to be part of the same fare (so a connection priced end-on-end is not ok, but a stopover on a single fare basis is fine) 2) The flights need to be priced as a connection (/X in fare construction). This interpretation would effectively mean that any connection <24h is ok I haven't tested the boundaries of either of these interpretations, but as with most things TK, I'd expect YMMV |
