Horrible experience - Any chance for compensation?

Hi all,

About a week ago I flew ACC-IST-JFK and the entire journey was horrendous. However my main issue was on the ACC-IST leg. First of all we were delayed by about an hour and a half due to an issue with the airconditioning. When we took off they claimed everything was in order, however the flight was still unbearably hot. In fact my wife broke out in a heat rash on her back from the heat.

On the IST-JFK leg, the IFE didn't work at all on my row and the flight was fully booked. But that's really not a big deal, we were just really bored. My question is this - is it worth it to try my luck and claim any compensation from TK, mainly for the ACC-IST leg? Or do I just not waste my time?

You will most likely not get anywhere and it will just be a waste of time. If you send them an email, you will get a canned response after 4 months, nothing else. If you call their cs you might be lucky to bump into an agent that are willing to escalate the case to give you a proper response and maybe a compensation in form of some extra miles.

Yeah I got a pretty canned response and no compensation - pretty much what I expected after reading your replies

Same thing happened. Complaint to them today than my complaint handed today. They give me quite a standard reply and saying that the staff is warned. What I want to see is not the staff is being warned, it does not matter! It matters is that how you solve the problem and how the company improve! How's the experience of others in terms of fighting some extra miles?

Forget about it or spend 10s of hours harassing them.
From experience : better chance with your local office than the crappy istanbul / turkey support.

What I would do is write a letter from the bottom up until you get a reply waiting a week in between contacts. I have found that the more letters you write are sometimes not answered as the company gets tens of thousands of complaints.

If I get an email stating your correspondence has been received and it may take 30 days or so I will wait. If after 30 days I have not heard anything I would write a professional e-mail explaining that it has been over 30 days.

The more times you write to the same department the more time it takes for you and other complaints to get resolved as sometimes they assign a totally different case number as sometimes you cannot reply to the automated response that automatically assigns you a case#.

I have found that the Canadian counterpart sometimes works more efficiently than in the US or abroad or at least they will have the proper direct e-mail address ans can forward your complaint.

Its worth calling the Canadian counterpart of Turkish Air to help you get your letter processed.

Thanks for all that! However I think I'm just giving up on it, doesn't really seem to be worth the struggle. I got an apology from them, they don't seem to be very forthcoming with anything else.
