Due to various changes to the TK IT-system booking partner awards has taken a great step back. Details below.

Online: Potentially working?

See recent (July 2022) posts - it seems possible to ticket *A online IF you can find availability. A lot of availability does not show. If you can see X or I class on ua.com but not on turkishairlines.com then likely a ticket office can assist

Since August 2021 the online *A ticket payment flow is broken ("continue" button does not appear on the credit card entry page) so transactions cannot be completed. No known workarounds

From 18 Nov 19, you may continue to book partner awards online for selected airlines, routes and options. Not all options that you could book with another partner is bookable through the TK website.

Availability could be checked online via the United website without being a MileagePlus member with the book with miles tool at the flight search engine. Note: For UA flights, check 'X' fare bucket, for other airlines check Saver Award.

TK Hotline: Partially working

From recent reports ( fall 2020 ) in this thread, it is now possible to book *A awards from the TK hotline although still, not all agents are capable to do it; you might need to HUACA multiple times to find an agent that knows how to book *A awards. Although, it's strongly suggested to make your own research on availability before calling them.

Sales Office: Working

A sales office could book *A award tickets. You could call, e-mail or visit them in person. Some offices do not answer phones or do not reply to e-mails so visiting them in person would improve your chances to book a *A award ticket.

First class award: Not working

TK has stopped issuing first class awards since at least September 2019.

I doubt they would let you back track. Why would you anyway? Just get SN to fly you to CDG? Short 40 min flight rather then waste 8hrs going back and forward to IST.

I'm almost 100% sure that TK will not accept this. TK is not known to be flexible when it comes to award tickets.

Take the train to CDG and start your travelling there. Flying BRU-IST-CDG-XXX makes no sense.

It’s quite late to book now. Take a look also using UA website. And if you are looking for a direct TG flight then post in that forum for more info.

Understanding TK award

hi,

just to to be sure I am understanding the award process correctly. If I am planning to take a Turkish flight from India where they fly from Delhi or Mumbai and I take a flight from my home base Kolkata (ccu) I will not be able to merge both flight on the same number of miles as they are different airlines. Sorry newbie in redeeming miles on Turkish.

Thanks.

Not in my experience. Adding another airline to an award is not allowed. Tried 10+ times to add a regional SQ to a SIN-IST TK flight and they kept on pricing it as two awards. YMMV

I have been repeatedly told that TK+1 is OK, but 2 without TK isn't. However, I believe there have been some reports of people also managing to combine more airlines without TK for the single award price. So, go figure to your local office. Apparently, the real experience can quite deviate from the written rules.

This is also my understanding of the rules.

The only chance to get 2 different carriers in a TK award itinerary is if one of them is TK.

In principle it should be possible to include a AI CCU-DEL flight in the TK award ticket (provided of course that you find award availability with AI) but it may be harder to find an agent who is willing to do it. If not possible, buy a cheap CCU-DEL/BOM flight that fits well with the TK flight (luckily domestic flights in India are still relatively cheap). There should be no issues checking your bags all the way to IST at check-in at CCU even when on 2 separate tickets - at least if you choose an AI flight from CCU.

Given my experience with AI ground staff it would be easier for me to fly to the moon than to expect them to tag bags on 2 different tickets.

But agreed on the point that domestic flights are cheap and I can easily book separately but would like to try to book through the call center and see if I can redeem the miles accordingly and report back.

Booked an F class ticket on LH FRA-KWI last week. Called the tollfree number and was told no f class but when I told her to search for O class, she was able to book it, and took 35,500 miles from my account. The confirmation email says it was in economy class though. Arrived at IST airport an hour later and the sales dept was not sure if it was in F class because she couldnīt see it but when I told her I redeemed 35,500 miles which is for F class, she said it was ok. Paid 1,171.17 Turkish Lira for taxes and surcharge. All in all, it was a smooth process

Two awards. Book HND-FRA in F and purchase FRA-PRG in Y because it is cheap and short flight. Then call to LH F line and ask combine the tickets. That is what I did.
