am i reading this correctly, that you'd consider flying across the country to save maybe a couple hours coming back from your international trip?
I did find the answer to my question in another thread here on FT: since airlines are giving GE for free to their elites, certain centers (ie. SFO, ORD..) are swamped. Others are not, and I guess NYC is not also because there are multiple options (EWR, JFK, downtown). I did see that HNL has little or no wait - in case anyone needs another reason to go to HNL :) The same thread reported some mixed luck with walk ins: SFO is unlikely to do it (because swamped), other locations are. And of corse, YMMV. |

not really. I was trying to figure out which centers have availability in case I can book an appointment when I'm in the area for work.

I've got to drive 5 hours to get there and then another 5 to get back. We could also go there on our outbound flight which is 9 days prior to when we will be returning to the US. Is nine days between the outbound and return enough time to get our global entry activated. I've read you get a card but don't you just swipe your passport?

Can you tell me where that thread is? [If one has an AMEX PLAT CARD, AMEX will reimburse you for the $100 fee if you charge it to your card.]
http://www.united.com/web/en-US/apps...y/default.aspx where GS, 1K and Plats get a code worth $100 to pay for GE. Cannot find something similar for AA, in case you're interested in them. |

I presume you're asking about the free GE offers. There is a long thread on the UA forum, pointing to this link:

...It's been a while since I've cleared in E, but I do recall them having a dedicated GE line for customs as well.

Bolding mine: Had my interview at SFO yesterday (8/27) and brought a fellow F/t'er with me who was approved with an interview scheduled for October hoping they would take her as a walk in and using the CBP Officer's words, "we can't do walk-ins as we''re hammered thanks to the Airlines giving it away for free and the best bet is for her to keep checking the calendar to see if an earlier date has opened*"

Saw some people asking about time frame. I applied for GE on 8/17 and just saw in my GOES account that I can schedule an interview.

Do they really make you provide documentation showing residence in the US? I haven't lived in the US for many years, but do still possess a drivers license. Will that suffice?
