US holder of APEC card - how does it help in US/EU airports?

I have an APEC business travel card but have not yet figured out how, if at all, it can help me in a US or EU airport when flying internationally. I see some reference to using crew lanes but no specific instructions. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Helps with identification in case you lose your passport or driver's license. TSA will let you through after investigation if you lost your ID during a trip. Your card would help.
