Global Entry Approval Question
So I am in the process of applying for Global Entry and wanted to get some feedback before I submit my app.
Per https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-t...ry/eligibility
I meet all the requirements, except perhaps for this one: "Have been found in violation of any customs, immigration or agriculture regulations or laws in any country;"
Back in ~2006, I was flying with my family from Boston to Toronto to Delhi. A travel agent booked the ticket for us few weeks ago. When we landed at Toronto, we found out that we needed a visa for Canada. This is because I did not have a Green Card at that time and the newly International terminal opened few days ago. Since we landed at a domestic terminal, which was not connected to the International terminal, we were legally suppose to be on Canadian soil for five minutes while using ground transportation shuttle.
Nobody told us we needed a visa, but eventually we were allowed to catch our flight to India barely as this would get us out of being in Canada "illegally."
And apparently got a note on our record.
Few years back, my brother went to Canada with his Green Card. The note popped up and the immigration officer pulled him aside. The officer asked what happened and my brother told the same story above. Then the officer told him that this incident from the past was removed from my brother's record.
Now I have not been to Canada, since this incident, but have travelled just fine to 20+ countries.
Should I still apply for Global Entry or visit Canada first and hope the incident gets removed from my record as well?
Thanks!

Since you are only applying for Global Entry which involves only the US (and not NEXUS which also involves Canada).. if I were you I would answer the question no if the only thing was that one incident..it's also a very easy thing to say "I forgot" about if asked as it's so meaningless... but they aren't even going to ask. Then next time you're in Canada.. clear it up with their officials like your brother did.
Of course it's just my opinion.. I'd take the chance..
