Global Entry/NEXUS Middle Name Issues

Sorry if this has been already answered but I was wondering if there would be any problems with my Global Entry card missing my middle name. Both my driver's license and passport have my middle name, but my GE card and GOES account do not have my middle name.

When booking a flight, how should I enter my name? Will this cause any problems such as not allowing me to use TSA PreCheck?

Thanks.

I have it that way and have not had any problems at all.

So when you book flights on a website, do you include your middle name to match your DL (or passport) or omit it to match your GE card?

Thanks.

No middle name. I have used my driver's license with the middle and and tickets without it just fine. I do not have any middle name in my passport though.

Related: at SNA PreCheck, the TDC tried to claim that my ID (Nexus) lacked a suffix, but my BP had one, and thus I wasn't allowed to use PreCheck. His supervisor corrected him...

That's pretty funny. I wouldn't put it past TSA.

I assume your BP had the PreCheck thing on it?

Yep, and gave 3 beeps and all. He stood there a long time staring at my ID and BP, then asked me to say my last name, said, "Oh, that's a 'II' on your BP, then," and pointed out that my NEXUS card didn't have a "II" and that that wouldn't be allowed.

Funny this discussion is happening. Over at the AA forum people insist that all names must match everywhere? My passport and my AA account have both of my last names (Spanish naming customs) but my dl and the GE card I just got in the mail only have my main/paternal last name. Hoping this wont cause any issues when I put the trusted traveler info on my aa account. So far my precheck works most of the time. So hoping adding this wont change my luck :-/

Well, I hope that's not the case.

Both my passport and drivers license have my middle name, but my Global Entry account has it missing.

As far as what I read from the TSA blog and what MAMOHT said, the name on the ticket and your airline account should match your GE card exactly.

*shrug*

You can change your GE account. I found there was a discrepancy between my names, so I called my GE officer, and he changed it at his end, so that all sources matched.

You didn't have to actually go visit the GE office?

I did not. However, I discovered the issue as soon as I got the approval, and I had the telephone number and name of the officer who interviewed me. I hope it works for you.

Middle Name Preference vs. Global Entry, FF Programs?

I go by my middle name. It's the only given name on all my credit cards and FT memberships except for United Airlines, which insisted a couple of years ago that they use my first name (accordingly I don't use their luggage tags, which have the "wrong" name). I'm enrolled in TSA Pre with UA and AA. UA uses my first name and AA my middle name. No problem at the checkpoints with either one, since all three names are on my driver's license.

So now I'm contemplating Global Entry. Registering for GOES I put both my first and middle names in the First Name field, separated by a space, and it took. I have yet to complete the Global Entry application since I have to find my US Naturalization Certificate, but when I apply and enter legal document information, I will have to list my middle name in its legal place.

I assume my Global Entry card will also list all three names, which is fine, but I'm concerned that additional airlines will then require me to list my first name on FT accounts, ticket purchases etc. Is that fear well-founded? Any other thoughts on this crisis of identity?

Global Entry uses my first and last name.

My passport uses my first, middle and last name.

United says my name must match my passport, so I've carefully seen to it that more recent tickets are purchased with all three names.

I can never get trusted traveler pre check because Global Entry only uses 2 of my 3 names. It's really discouraging.

Thanks for this well-timed heads-up. I think I'll skip Global Entry, since most of my travel is domestic and I value TSA Pre much more. Judging from other threads, GE isn't a panacea anyway.
