That does not appear to be the case.

Spouse and kids (all GE members) all applied for NEXUS same date and all got conditional approval 10.5 weeks (on the same date). My kids are elementary school age so it's not like there's much background to check against.

Maybe not. Like you said, kids would have no hits on RCMP or FBI checks. That it takes the same amount of time as adults indicates applications just sitting in a queue and only being looked at 2-3 weeks before adjudication.

I guess $50 a pop is not nearly enough to hire an army of processors. Or maybe it is.

You are welcome. Now is the fun part.:) According to recent reports, YVR and 1611 Main Street location were wide open as well as Blaine, WA. Let us know what you find.

I had my interview yesterday at YUL (moved it earlier twice, as openings appeared); it went very smoothly (though, why both the Canadian and American agents need to explain exactly the same thing is a little overkill). The American agent hadn't known (and I still don't think believed me) that one could change the interview date on the website without contacting them directly.

Happily, there were only three cars ahead of me at the border on my way home to Connecticut for my last non-NEXUS drive.

We originally scheduled my wife's interview at YUL for next Monday, but a slot opened up today for this Friday, and we jumped at that. I probably wouldn't have looked as frequently to reschedule without the information I'd read on this forum. Thanks, all!

I had my interview at the Ambassador Bridge Center in Detroit yesterday. After the interview I was told that I should expect my card in 4-6 weeks, because they are running behind.

Finally got conditional approval and snagged an appt this week!

My EDL is up for renewal later this year, once I have a Nexus, is there any reason I should keep an EDL instead of a regular license? The only thing I can think of is forgetting the Nexus and still being able to use the regular lanes, but that doesn't worry me much.

What is the cost of the EDL vs. a regular DL for you? I'd lean don't bother with the EDL unless it was minimal difference in cost. Of course, if you forget the NEXUS even once in five years, maybe having the EDL saves you the gas/time cost of a trip back to wherever your NEXUS card is right away.

It's $54 every 6 years, so comparable to the Nexus cost. Effectively I would be paying twice if I keep both. But the Nexus seems more versatile (fast lane, air travel) and as far as I can tell there is nothing I can do with my EDL that I can't with my Nexus (except driver of course).

NEXUS card is definitely better for crossing the border of course, but you will practically always have the EDL on you. That said, I'd probably save the $54 and not bother. A passport card (if you're using an American passport) is cheaper than the EDL in your instance as a backup option as well.

When did you file?

Edit: Never mind, I saw it in your history. 82 days! Brutal.

Applied on May 23, new application. Saw the previous fast turnaround in March/April and was worried if there was anything wrong until I check this thread again today. It sounds bad but I'm glad at least it wasn't just me!

So thank you everyone for your updates.

Conditionally approved today at around noon. Saw an appt at YYZ for Aug 17 but by the time I confirm I can do it it was gone! Initial appt on Sep 7, checked twice this afternoon and finally got one for Aug 15.

Thanks a lot to everyone. If not for the advice here I'd never have checked this frequently to see if there are any earlier opening, and am really surprised that there are so many changes throughout an afternoon!

Welcome to FT. Looks like a lot of people are receiving their conditional approval in the last few days. Good thing is interview slots are readily available, unlike Global Entry.
